the competition of competitions

February 3, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Did you compete in a design competition in 2009 and not win? (if you work in an architecture firm, chances are, you did…)

Architizer wants you to take those losing concepts out of the wastebasket and recycle them. Upload your unrewarded competition entries onto Architizer.com and give them one more chance at victory.

Deadline for entry is Feb. 15.

Bring out your dead!

January 12, 2010 · Leave a Comment

I’ve posted this artists work before – Alex Rowan is an amazing CG artist who captures the warmth and beauty of architecture in computer generated material – which is typically a cold medium. leo burnett: mAD-man

Ministry of Design, a Singapore based design firm, completed this office for the advertising agency Leo Burnett.

The lobby features a graphic spanning from floor to ceiling of Leo Burnett himself, along with a monster-scaled pencil. Awesome. If i ever have an office of my  own, I want a neon yellow portrait with a monster highlighter.

Here are some more shots of the interior spaces:

Burj Khalifa: the tallest skyscraper…in the wooorld

January 5, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Designed by SOM, the Burj Khalifa (formerly the Burj Dubai) towers over Dubai at 828 meters tall.

Clearly it is a structural masterpiece, but is it much more?

Check out this video from the opening ceremony. The fireworks coming off the building at the end are pretty amazing.
